Atiku Abubakar’s son tests positive to coronavirus, moved to Abuja hospital

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has announced that his son has tested positive to coronavirus.
Abubakar, who was also the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate in the last general election made the announcement through a tweet on his handle, saying that his infected son has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management.
“My son has tested positive to coronavirus. @NCDCGov has been duly informed, and he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management.”
The front-line politician then called for prayers for his son: “I will appreciate it if you have him in your prayers. Stay safe, coronavirus is real. –AA.”
In other tweets, Atiku hailed health workers for their sacrifices and commended the Federal Government for heeding his counsel and putting in place policies aimed at alleviating the economic challenges of Nigerians arising from the pandemic.
“ I join millions of other Nigerians to celebrate our health workers for their courageous work at this challenging time, and I urge all Nigerians to remain strong while we fight the scourge of this #COVIDー19 to the end.
“The #CoronavirusOutbreak places a huge economic strain on Nigerians, which is why we counselled the FG to reduce the pump price of PMS. I commend the FG for taking this step and I urge that all hands be on deck to rescue Nigeria from the economic downturn of the oil crash. –AA
“I commend the FG for heeding to our calls by putting in place a policy of restriction on travellers from countries with high Coronavirus cases. I call on Nigerians to adhere strictly to @WHO and @NCDCgov protocols on personal hygiene and social distancing. –AA.”
The announcement of the infection of Atiku’s son is coming after First Lady, Aisha Buhari announced that her daughter has gone into self isolation after returning from the United Kingdom, UK, one of the hot spots of the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Though she said that her daughter had not shown any signs of the symptoms of the dreaded pandemic, she shut down her office and directed her critical staff to work from home, especially also as some of her staff returned from the UK.
In the United States of America, US, and other countries hit by the pandemic, some highly placed individuals, including some US Senators have tested positive to the coronavirus while others have gone into self isolation.
Nigeria has already announced 30 cases confirmed as positive to coronavirus.
