An acclaimed wife of Boko Haram factional leader, Mamman Nur, Fatima Mohammed has been arrested in Maiduguri by the operatives of the Borno state command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC).
The Borno commander of the NSCDC, Ibrahim Abdullahi, while parading the suspect alongside other suspected criminals at the headquarters of the command, said the two teenage suspected Boko Haram members, Amina Salisu and Fatima Mohammed were arrested at the Borno Express Motor Park during the Easter break, while waiting to be transported to Damaturu.
He said the 15 year old Fatimah married three times. Among her husbands was the factional leader of Boko Haram, Mamman Nur, adding that she was two months pregnant, while 14 year old Amina Salisu married twice among the sect members.
Narrating their ordeals, the Boko Haram suspects said when the Nigerian Army raided Sambiza forest and dislodged them they reported themselves to the troops in Yamtake, from where they were moved to Gwoza and later to Maiduguri but that the husband of Fatima, one Tahir, abandoned them at the Motor park while trying to go to Damaturu.
They said they were abducted by the insurgents and moved to Sambiza over two years ago and they were forced to marry them, pointing out that they were tired of the activities of the insurgents that was why they surrendered themselves to the troops in Yamtake.
Also paraded was a native of Imo state who operates an illegal JAMB registration Centre, in Maiduguri who was charging candidates N1, 200 per candidate, as against the N700 officially approved by the Board.
The NSCDC boss said the centre was not among those approved by the JAMB to operate in Maiduguri and that they got official letter from the JAMB coordinator that the centre is illegal and called on the general public especially prospective candidates to be wary of such centres.
Other items recovered were 63 Jerrycans, 25 liters filled with PMS and 183 empty Jerrycans, 25 bags of rice supplied by World Food programme meant for the IDPs but that were diverted.
Commander Abdullahi said the Jerrycans were intercepted along Konduga and Jimtilo, where on sighting his men, the owners took to their heels, abandoned three vehicles loaded with fuel, while the owners of the 10 bags of rice also abandoned their vehicle and took to their heels.
