Gov. Emmanuel swears – in new commissioners

Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel has sworn-in six new commissioners and charged them to be like the disciples of Jesus Christ in their services to the people of the State.

He gave the advice at Government House, Uyo saying, they should put their personal interest behind them and render public spirited service to the people and state.

According to him, “as commissioners, you will emulate Jesus disciples, by putting the interest of the people above personal interest, as your appointment is a call to duty.

”From your curriculum vitae, it is obvious that you are combat ready to give preference to Akwa İbom people. Do not place your interest above Akwa İbom people, as you are coming at a time we have much to deliver.

”You are joining me at a critical moment of my administration with expectation to deliver much to Alwa İbom people.

”Bring your very best to make sure we land well and safely too”.

The commissioners sworn-in were; a seasoned banker and politician, Hon. Emem Almond Bob from Onna Local Government Area, who has been assigned ministry of Economic Development.

Others are; Dr Mrs Offiong Samuel Offor, ministry of Agriculture, Capt. İniobong Ekong Rtd, ministry of Lands/Water Resources, Engr. Camillus Essien Umoh, ministry of Trade and İnvestment, Dr Bassey B. Okon, ministry of Special Duties and İbom Deep Seaport and Mr Aniefiok İsaac Nkom, ministry of Labour, Man Power Development and Planning.

Shortly after the ceremony, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem in a public notice, announced the transfer of Ibom Deep Seaport portfolio from the ministry of economic development and oversight to ministry of Special Duties, while Aviation matters is now domiciled with the Special Assistant to the Governor on Aviation Development, Governor’s office.

This Dr Ekuwem explained was to allow the ministry of Economic Development focus on the core ministerial mandate of planning, Development and monitoring.

Meanwhile, friends and associates of the new commissioner of the ministry of Economic Development have hailed the Governor for  appointing Hon. Emem Bob into his cabinet saying, he would bring his 21st leadership and managerial experience  in the banking sector to bear in his new assignment.

Mr Emmanuel Nana, is his congratulatory message via electronic media described the commissioner as a guru of development, and prayed God to grant him more wisdom to succeed in his new assignment.

Bob, hails from Onna Local Government Area and, has held top managerial positions in different banks since the beginning of his career before his new appointment.

Bob bagged his B. A. (Hons), English from the University of Uyo in 1997 and, Executive MBA from the University of Port – Harcourt Business School in 2014.

Besides, he is a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Management and Strategic Studies, and Associate Member of Chartered Economists of Nigeria.

His banking career spans from 1998 till date, when he first served in the Bank of the North during NYSC as a Relationship Officer in Yobe State.

As a team player in any organization,  Bob contributes to the advancement and achievement of organizational goals through provision of strategic leadership.

This has paid off in many occasions as his major achievements.

As a Regional Manager on relief duty at Heritage Bank, he recorded a One Billion transaction breakthrough in PZ Will mar deal closure in Cross River State during the period.

He has also held several managerial positions in top notch banks among them are; Experience Center Manager /Regional  Head (Relief) at Heritage Bank Plc, Branch Leader, Fidelity Bank Plc, Uyo.

Others are; General Manager, Avalanche (A Division of All States Trust Bank), Team Leader, Commercial Banking Division in All States Trust Bank, Profit Center Manager – Public Sector Unit, UBA Plc and Business Manager, UBA Plc until this appointment.

Awards he garnered during the period include;  Best Relationship Manager – CRA for 3 years, HCM commendation as Most Profit Oriented Staff and Excellence Award as Regional Bank Head etc.

He is a member and facilitator of Mandate Preservation Group (MPG), a political association that ushered in the present State administration in Akwa İbom in 2015.

Prior to his private sector participation, Bob was a one time President, Federated Onna Students, University of Uyo Chapter and Head, Forum of Chapter Presidents, Ibibio Students Union, University of Uyo.

He is happily married to Mrs Iniobong Emem Bob and the marriage is blessed with children.
