Senator Paulker to run in 2016 Bayelsa guber polls

Ahead of 2016 governorship election in Bayelsa state, senator representing Bayelsa Central at the Senate, Emmanuel Paulker has said he is considering vying for the governorship position in the state come December 5,  2015′,

Sen Paulker had served as Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream and Upstream.

He disclosed his intention to contest for governorship position in Yenagoa during a media chrt held at Udeme hotel, Sunday

Sen Paulker who said every Bayelsan is free to contest for any elective position including governorship position in the State, added that he is however, consulting with his friends and families before making his formal declaration.

“I have had clarion calls from my people and friends to run for governorship position for Bayelsa state, but at the appropriate time I will make my intension public,” he said.

The Senator who decried the mass defection of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) politicians to the All Progressives Party (APC )said, their defections had affected the party negatively and appealled to the defectors to make a u-turn to PDP.

“I am not comfortable with the mass defections of my friends and colleagues to APC, the defection had created a negative impact in the state party structure,” he said.

The Senator who had a thanksgiving service in Yenagoa on Saturday said the service was to give thanks to God for making it possible for his victory at the just-concluded poll to the senate.

He, therefore, appealed to politicians and Bayelsans alike to shun violence come Dec 5 governorship election , saying that election is not a do or die affair, but a mere political contest just as he advised politicians not to play politics of bitterness and rancour

On President Muhammadu Buhari’s probe of corrupt politicians, Paulker said the move is a welcome dimension, but advised the President not to witch-hunt ex-president Jonathan’s administration alone, but should expand the probe.

He condemned corruption by politicians, noting that no nation can progress with looting of government treasury and property.

The senator who debunked reports of a soured relationship with Governor Seriake Dickson, said the governor remains his personal friend and does not have any problem with him.
