Two state chairmen emerge in Ebonyi APC

Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has split into two factions leading to the emergence of separate chairmen, namely; Hon. Ben Nwaobashi and Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze.

Members of the party including the four suspended officers; Engr. Ngaji Nwodoh, Ephraim Eze, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu and Prof. Francis Ibiam had in their resolutions passed vote of no-confidence on the Hon. Nwaobasi-led executive and elected the Deputy Chairman, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, as the new chairman.

They therefore relieved Nwaobashi of his duty, accusing him of financial misconduct, incompetence, negligence of duty, dictatorship and wrongful substitutions of the party’s candidates during the general elections.

Also relieved of their duties were the Party’s Secretary, Pastor Victor Elem, his assistant, Anthony Eze, the Treasurer, Alloy Nwibo and Financial Secretary, Ignatius Chima.

They, however, set aside suspensions placed on the four officers of the party and the State Co-ordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organization who was also one of the governorship aspirants of the party, Chief Austine Igwe Edeze, who were all suspended by the Nwaobashi-led faction for alleged anti-party activities and rebellious behaviours.

In his acceptance speech, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu promised to restore the glory of the party in the state.

“It’s a new dawn. The party is on a new platform, the party will take its right of place in Ebonyi state. We are going to take the party to a greater height,” he said.

The current crisis rocking the party in the state is a clash of interests by chieftains of the party who are battling for appointment in the incoming administration of Gen. Buhari.

But when contacted, the sacked chairman Ben Nwaobashi dismissed the action of the partymen, saying those involved are political jobbers and mischief makers.
