We deserve better By Boris Emeka Oji

Nigeria’s flag

For the first time you guys worked hard to change Nigeria
Obi didn’t lose the election 🗳️ not at the polling booth but he lost the election at the collation centers against the will of the people, because the oligarchs do not want to let go of the stranglehold they have on the necks of hardworking Nigerians like you and me.
Papers across the world all had similar headlines with some saying “known Drug baron” wins Nigeria’s election.
While Tinubu may claim he made Buhari president because of the coalition he formed, the truth is Nigerians actually voted for Buhari because we were hoodwinked with the “change mantra” he sold.
So Buhari being an honorable man wants to pay back Tinubu (by making him president) but unfortunately this time Nigerians voted for another more acceptable candidate called Peter OBI.
While Mr. Tinubu lovers have a right to thank him and show appreciation to him for all he has done for them, they do not have the right to use the destiny of 200 million people to give him as a gift.
We were not naïve of the regular political shenanigans in our space called Nigeria but they had promised us something different this time by trying electronic transmission of results so that the best man will win and the best man did win at the polling booths.
Mr. Wike didn’t have the right to change the votes cast in OBI Akpo local government as a “gift to Tinubu”! He had a right to cast only one vote for Tinubu.
Anyway it’s unfortunate that people now ascribe political naivety to Mr. Peter OBI and political tactician to Mr. Tinubu but they forget to look at the “process” both men used.
Tinubu scorned the masses and will not even address them with any meaningful information with regards to programs he had for them (but used the stage to haul insults on his opponents) neither did he consider the people worthy of his time to debate his opponents but depended on the governors and corruptible INEC officials to make him the president.
Mr. Peter Obi on the other hand believed he was on a job interview with Nigerians to work for the people and they hired him.
Now we leave it to the hands of fate and our learned community of lawyers and judges to make Nigerians believe again in the country called Nigeria or if this travesty stands the test of time there may be a quote stating, “there was once a country called Nigeria.”
God bless.
