Members of the 3rd Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy have restated the association’s commitment and support for the federal government towards ensuring that Nigeria survives the various challenges threatening the country’s unity.

The Association declared its commitment towards the sustenance of unity in Nigeria, Thursday, immediately after the annual general meeting of the 3rd Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy Alumni Association which held in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the body after the annual meeting which was held in closed session, Senator Tunde Ogbeha disclosed that members of the association reached an agreement to continue to support government towards ensuring that the unity of the country is not in any way compromised.

“As per the unity of the country, we have played our part and we will continue to support government in whatever effort we can make to ensure that the unity of the country is not compromised. We are all patriots in our own selves so we are concerned about that. Most importantly, we will do all that is possible for the nation to remain united,” said Ogbeha.

On his path, former military administrator of Bauchi and Plateau states, Major General Chris Garba described this year’s annual meeting of the association as unique, adding that the occasion reminded all members of their sworn commitment to the fatherland.

He assured of the group’s contribution to, and support for government towards ensuring the restoration of peace to regions bedeviled by insurgent activities.

“This year’s annual meeting is unique because it calls to mind the oath of allegiance which we took some 49 or 50 years ago when we first joined the military academy.

“We took an oath of allegiance to this country, and even though we are out of office, we still stick to this oath. We will continue to make our contribution towards the growth and survival of Nigeria; towards the peace, indivisibility and security of the nation,” he assured.
