6 confirmed dead in Maiduguri mosque suicide bomb attack, as culprits’ accomplices flee

Two accomplices of the lone suicide bomber who Friday morning successfully attacked a mosque in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State, are currently on the run after escaping from the scene of the incident, a report from the area said.

“The explosion was carried out by a suspected lone suicide bomber whose two accomplices escaped, when some vigilant members of the community accosted them on their suspicious movements,” an eyewitness account said.

“The incident occurred during the early Morning Subhi Prayer at a mosque behind Magistrate Court Polo Area in Maiduguri.”

Meanwhile, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have evacuated six dead bodies of the victims of an early morning suicide bombing in Maiduguri, while about 17 other injured victims are being treated in specialist and teaching hospitals in Maiduguri.

The incident which occurred during the early Morning Subhi Prayer at a mosque behind Magistrate Court Polo Area in Maiduguri was reportedly carried out by a suspected lone suicide bomber whose two accomplices escaped, when some vigilant members of the community accosted them on their suspicious movements.

A senior health worker confirmed that the 6 bodies have been deposited in the mortuary, while about 17 other injured victims are being treated in Specialist and teaching hospitals in Maiduguri.
