Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has restated his position on tax collection in the state, insisting that he has not instructed or authorised any person, agency, organisation or association to collect any levy for any reason or purpose whatsoever, from anybody, markets or any part of the business community.
The governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press secretary, Godwin Adindu said he had already authorised the abrogation of all forms of multiple taxation and levies all over the state, adding that any person, group, organisation or association caught carrying out illegal taxation or levy collection under whatever guise, would be dealt with according to the law.
The statement warned all those concerned to desist as security agencies had been notified to take appropriate action.
Adindu also advised people to desist from deceiving members of the public by requesting for gratification in the guise of assisting them to secure political appointments in the government and administration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, stressing that the administration was dedicated to due process and merit.
