Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] Thursday, arrested former Imo State governor Ikedi Ohakim. The Peoples Democratic Party chieftain was reportedly arrested at his residence in Asokoro district of Abuja in the early hours of the day.
This is the second top arrest by the EFCC within the week as the commission had, days ago, welcomed former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, who willingly surrendered himself for questioning.
According to sources, Mr, Ohakim was invited by the EFCC for a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, the 17th, an invitation which he failed to honour, thus prompting his arrest on Thursday.
Ohakim is a political rival of Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, presently Imo State governor of the ruling All Progressives Congress [APC].
Okorocha defeated him in the 2011 gubernatorial polls after a fiercely contested election.
