


He made the comment at the Grand unveiling and Inauguration of the National Executive Council of the Maintain Peace Movement Friday at the Nest of Champions Stadium.
“If we must progress, if we must achieve something, there must be Peace. The development we have witnessed in the last six years is as a result of the peace we have witnessed in the state.
“As the political year draws closer, anyone who is not preaching peace should not have access to you. As your Governor, till my last day in office, I’ll continue to live up to my responsibility for which you voted me into office,” he said.
He harped on the need for the continued peace in the state and further explained that no meaningful development will come to a place where there is no peace.
Earlier in his welcome address, the deputy governor, His Excellency, Mr. Moses Ekpo stated that Peace is the foundation for development and that Akwa Ibom has laid that solid foundation under the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel hence the life-touching projects being witnessed in the state.
He further commended the people of the state for their peaceful disposition and enjoined them to continue on the path of peace.
The newly Inaugurated national EXCO of the Maintain Peace Movement has as it’s National Chairman, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, Deputy National Chairman, Sir Monday Uko, Coordinator, Prince Enobong Uwah, Secretary General and Barr. Morgan Ekanem, Assistant Secretary General.

In his acceptance speech, the National Chairman of the Maintain Peace Movement, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged his commitment to the ideals of the Maintain Peace Movement.
In a goodwill message, National Organising Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Col. Austin Akobundu, acknowledged the development strides of the Udom Emmanuel led administration.
“I thank the Governor for his peaceful disposition which is characterised by the numerous developments in the state. This Movement today is for the sustainance of the peace that’s already in the state and this shows that the Governor is a forward thinking person” he said.
