Senegal defeated Ecuador 2-1 in a winner-takes-all encounter to send the South Americans parking from Qatar. With the victory, Senegal finished in second place with six points, one behind Group A leaders Netherlands.
England on their part secured a commanding 3-0 win over Wales. Marcus Rashford, getting a brace and Phil Foden with the other to ensure that Gareth Southgate’s men finish top of Group B.
First B vs Second A, England will lock horns with Senegal in the round of 16, the winner pushing further to the last-eight.
In the other confirmed last-16 fixture, Netherlands who claimed Group A top spot with a 2-0 win over Qatar will face USA. The Americans secured a hard fought 1-0 win over Iran to reach the knockout round.
Christian Pulisic got the goal in the first half of the keenly contested showdown to finish as Group B runners up with 5 points.
With the completion of Group A and B games, attention will shift to Group C and D for today, Wednesday November 30.
