Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has presided over a strategy meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Legal Team and some senior lawyers in the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration regarding the ruling party’s preparations for any legal eventualities as the February and March 2023 polls draws near.
The legal team came to seek the Vice President’s counsel and held a brainstorming session with him at the Presidential Villa after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the two Ministers in the federal cabinet who are Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) – Mr. Babatunde Fashola and Mr. Festus Keyamo. The current APC National Legal Adviser, Barr. Ahmed El-Marzuk and his predecessor, Mr. Babatunde Ogala, SAN, were also in attendance among other party and government officials who were seen at the Villa during the session.
State House correspondents saw the attendees at the Vice President’s wing of the Presidential Villa but none of them addressed the press on their mission at the Vice President’s wing.
However, a reliable source who was privy to the agenda of the meeting said the APC legal team came to discuss their plans and review the party’s preparedness for the forthcoming elections with the Vice President.
The APC and other parties are fielding candidates in the forthcoming General Elections starting later this month. Over 1400 elective positions at both Federal and State levels across the country are being contested, including the Presidency, Governorship positions and seats in the Federal and State legislatures.
