VXL Nigeria Ltd has introduced its new nanotechnology solutions for road construction to the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, aiming to tackle the region’s infrastructure challenges.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 18, 2024, by his media aide, Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, Momoh praised the innovative technology, saying it could help solve the Niger Delta’s environmental challenges, including poor soil conditions and heavy rainfall.
The presentation, led by Sambhav Kothari of VXL Nigeria Ltd, showcased the company’s successful partnership with Lagos State since 2009. Kothari explained how nanotechnology has been used to improve road projects in Lagos, highlighting the technology’s benefits such as soil strengthening, water resistance, and reduced road expansion issues.
“These features make the technology ideal for the Niger Delta, where poor soil and flooding often damage roads,” Kothari noted during the presentation.
Momoh asked important questions about the long-term benefits and cost-effectiveness of the proposed solutions, emphasising that any new technology must fit the region’s needs and provide lasting road infrastructure.
“This presentation has been insightful,” Momoh said. “Considering the issues we face with soil conditions and constant flooding, it is necessary to explore new technologies like this. A pilot project will help us see how well these solutions can work,” he said.
VXL Nigeria Ltd expressed its willingness to work with the ministry on a trial project, confident that the technology would improve road durability and reduce maintenance costs. Both parties agreed to continue discussions on starting a pilot project soon.
