Pastor-in-charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), The Americas 1, Region 15, Dominion Cathedral, Orange, New Jersey, Pastor (Dr.) Toyin Laoye, will on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 host a reception, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, in honor of her late mother, Elder Sophia Mojisola Faniyan (nee Sotiyo), who passed on to glory in New Jersey, United States of America (USA), recently, at the age of 91.

Family members, relatives, friends and other well wishers from all over the world would come together in the great city of Ibadan to celebrate the memory of Elder Faniyan who was, on October 11, 2024, given a befitting burial in New Jersey, USA, with dignitaries from far and near, including top clerics, led by the Continental Overseer (CO) of the RCCG, The Americas 1, Pastor (Dr.) James Fadel, in attendance.

A high point of the burial program for the highly respected nonagenarian was the proclamation of October 11 as Sophia Mojisola Faniyan Day by Mayor Dwayne D. Warren, Esq., the Mayor of the City of Orange, New Jersey, USA.

At the time of her transition, Elder Faniyan was the oldest member of the RCCG Dominion Cathedral, Orange, New Jersey, and had been an active worker in several departments of the Church, including Evangelism, Welfare and the Elders’ Fellowship, till age slowed her down.

The Home Going program of the much beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was carnival-like and testimonies of how much she positively impacted the lives of many individuals and groups all over the world were shared without hesitation.

The celebration of her life and times in Ibadan is expected to be equally memorable, as some of those who knew her from home would have the opportunity to join other dignitaries from across the world to honor her memory and thank God for the impactful life that she lived and the lofty legacies she has left behind.
