Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has eulogised a global media icon, Aare Dele Momodu for his commitment to human development.
Governor Adeleke stated this while speaking at the official commissioning of the Dele Momodu Foundation Leadership Centre, Alakubosa GRA, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Governor Adeleke has also warmly congratulated Dr Charles Akinola, Chief of Staff to former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, on his appointment as Managing Director of the South West Development Commission (SWDC).
The Governor, in a congratulatory message by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed also commended President Bola Tinubu for considering an Osun indigene worthy to lead a commission that will champion the development agenda of the region.
Governor Adeleke, at the 65th birthday event of Chief Momodu, described the media mogul as “a unique breed, a genius within humanity, and a free mind with progressive ideals about our society”.
He described the vision of human growth and development of the media icon as all-inclusive within a big heart which mentors thousands of professionals from far and near.
While appreciating the spirit of lifting people that God endowed Dele Momodu with, Senator Adeleke called on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of giving by helping anybody who is found in need around them and not wait until they amass millions in local or foreign currency.
He appreciated the wife of the celebrant, Chief Mrs. Bolaji Momodu for being a strong pillar of support behind Aare Dele Momodu saying her candour has always stood her out as a virtuous woman.
In his remarks, the celebrant, Aare Dele Momodu described Governor Adeleke as a destiny helper who has always been supportive of the progress and development of people that come his way.
He commended Governor Adeleke for coming to commission the leadership training centre which he said is to serve as a resource centre for researchers at no cost.
Media adviser to former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Dr Lasisi Olagunju recalled his original contact with Chief Momodu about 40 years ago at the Obafemi Awolowo University, lauding his mentorship of many new generations in the field of journalism and others.
He narrated Momodu’s trajectory in the journalism field spanning several newspapers before he innovated with Ovation magazine, calling the celebrant a model for many in the field.
Governor Adeleke, in his congratulatory message on the appointment of Dr. Akinola, charged the development expert to make the state proud by bringing his wealth of experience to develop an efficient commission capable of restoring the old glory of the South West region.
He also encouraged the new chief executive to discharge his duty with fairness, transparency and accountability, noting that the expectation is for development across the region.
He said, “I want to congratulate Dr Charles Akinola on his appointment as Managing Director of the Southwest Development Commission.
“I am really glad and thank Almighty God that another of our sons is elevated to such a top position. I am happy that an Osun top technocrat is saddled with leading the commission to develop the entire South West region.
“I urge him to discharge his duty with fairness, transparency and accountability. I task him to bring his wealth of experience to bear on this sacred assignment. Rapid development will come when we are all united in the drive to develop our region.
“The Osun government under my leadership will fully support the commission. Our hands of partnership and collaboration are open.
“I also want to commend President Bola Tinubu for counting one of us worthy for such an appointment to lead the development agenda of our region.
“We appreciate Mr. President for his constant support for the Osun state government and our people. We will not let him down,” Governor Adeleke was quoted as noting in the statement.
