Bayonne’s attention to tradition is slated to continue with its “Summer Sounds by the Bay” concert series, an annual community event that has run for over 30 years. The series of concerts began on June 25th, and are slated to run until the end of August with eight different performances.
Among them include The Beginning, a live Chicago tribute band known for over 20 years of performances, which occurred on June 25th; AM GOLD, a live New York City tribute band that specializes in southern music, which occurred on July 9th; Soul Machine, performing top 40 hits of R&B and Motown, on July 16th; Iconic Women of Rock, a tribute to legendary female artists on July 23rd; Fleetwood Macked, a tribute to iconic rock band Fleetwood Mac on July 30th; ARENA: Relive the Rock, a rock tribute performance honoring several iconic acts on August 6th; We May Be Right!, a Billy Joel tribute band on August 13th; and Super Trans AM, a theme band performing and playing 1970s-era music on August 20th.
Each concert has been, and is slated to occur at 7:00 P.M. at Bayonne’s 16th Street Park for each date. An August 27th date has also been saved as a make-up day for potential bad weather. The full slate is expected to be ceremonial for the city, which revels in culture and has plenty of visitors that fit the target demographic of the performers. Considering the overwhelming presence of digital consumption of music, the value of a live performance is more delicate and necessary than ever. As a result, this event is not only pivotal to Bayonne citizens, but North Jersey residents in need of a musical engagement in general.
