Even if summer is nearly over, there’s still a good month of festivities left to celebrate the most fun season of the year. And Irvington knows the community has lots of energy to give – so with that considered, they’re unifying their residents to deliver events worth remembering and visiting for the culture.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 5th, the city is starting off their August events with the “National Night Out”, an evening outing hosted by Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss and the Department of Public Safety. It will be hosted at 1 Civic Square from 5PM to 9PM, and is slated to feature music, drinks, prizes, giveaways, and general family-friendly activities. It will be a great opportunity for locals to commemorate the greatness of their city while enjoying camaraderie, and it will be accessible to those of all ages.
Following that, Saturday, August 9th will feature another celebratory event with the 23rd Annual Irvington Unity Day Celebration. A longtime tradition in Irvington, it is also hosted by Mayor Vauss alongside the Irvington Municipal Council.
An afternoon event, it will run from 12PM to 6PM. It will involve performances from music acts – including hip-hop group, Grand Puba, Crème and Filly, Nice & Smooth, O-Solo, Trece 7ev, Big 7 & Friends, and Milk Dee – and will involve a variety of DJ sets to keep the tunes fresh and exciting.
Youth-related activities will be available as well, including popcorn machines, bounce houses, and face painting as well. In the case of rain or other extreme weather conditions, the Irvington High School Auditorium will serve as an alternative location.
With these two events underway, it’s undeniable that Irvington deserves acclaim for its community involvement and presence from local government – it’s an incredible opportunity for locals to embrace the greatness of their city and meet important figures.
