Oil and Gas conglomerate, Oilserve Nigeria, hails Afreximbank for support; Tasks IOCs

OilServe Nigeria Ltd., a major player in Africa’s oil and gas industry, has hailed the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), for its support for African companies, and urged the frontline multilateral financial institution to do more in the interest of the development of Global Africa.

An official of the oil and gas service conglomerate, who gave the commendation during the just concluded Intra Africa Trade Fair (IATF) that held in Algiers, Algeria, confirmed that they have been able to execute major oil and gas projects in Nigeria and in some other countries in Africa as a result of the support of Afreximbank.

Responsible for Nigeria’s Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, which is a critical component of the country’s Gas Master Plan intended to establish a national gas transmission backbone, the Oilserve representative at the Fair, which held from September 3 to 10, 2025, also said that the company, which has been in operation for over 30 years, has, over time, acquired expertise and capacity to handle major contracts, and deserved to be trusted with such projects by International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in the continent.

According to him, they have over the years, successfully delivered complex and standard engineering contracts, including huge Turn-Key projects and functional flow stations, aside the AKK gas pipeline project, which is, presently, the biggest in Africa.

These success stories, which have also been executed on time, he said, should give the IOCs confidence in Oilserve’s capacity to take on all their projects. Some of the contracts they have handled have involved collaborations with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and other African countries such as Ghana, Senegal and Benin Republic.

A major challenge that they have been facing, he noted, has been difficulty in accessing the huge capital outlays needed for these projects, which most commercial banks are not able, or willing, to advance, but which, Afreximbank has been facilitating. He also identified insecurity, ease of doing business and, especially, visa issues, pointing out that sometimes, delays in procuring visas to travel to other African countries for project execution causes unnecessary time wastage.

The company’s executive, equally, commended Afreximbank, the African Union Commission and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat for IATF2025, pointing out that such a huge continental market place is very good for networking and deal making between countries, companies and individuals, and holds a great promise for the rapid development of Global Africa.
