Tinubu orders security chiefs to rescue remaining 115 abducted schoolchildren
President Bola Tinubu has ordered security agencies to step up their efforts and ensure the immediate rescue of the remaining 115 students and teachers abducted from Papiri Catholic School in Niger State. He stressed that “all victims must be accounted for.”
The President gave the order on Monday while welcoming the safe return of 100 kidnapped students, who were freed after what he described as the “tireless” and “steadfast” efforts of security operatives.
“I have been briefed on the safe return of 100 students from the Catholic school in Niger State. I rejoice with Governor Umar Bago and commend our security agencies for their steadfast work since the unfortunate incident on 21 November,” Tinubu said.
He assured parents that the Federal Government, working with the Niger State Government, is committed to securing the release of every child still held by the kidnappers.
“My directive remains that all the students and other abducted Nigerians must be rescued and brought home safely. We must account for all the victims,” he added.
The President highlighted that school safety is now a national priority. He said stronger coordination between the Federal Government, security chiefs and state governors will be enforced to stop future attacks on schools.
“The Federal Government will continue to work with Niger State and other states to secure our schools and make the learning environment safer for our young ones. From now on, our security agencies, working with the governors, must prevent future kidnappings. Our children should no longer be sitting ducks for terrorists,” he said.
Tinubu’s directive comes at a time of rising concern over repeated mass abductions and the emotional trauma faced by families waiting for the return of their children.
