The former president of International Associations of Athletics Federations (IAAF), Lamine Diack, has resigned from his honorary membership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

It follows his suspension by the IOC on Tuesday after he was accused by French investigators of taking bribes to cover up positive drugs tests.

Senegalese Diack, 82, has vehemently denied all the allegations.

Diack’s son Papa Massata, advisor Habib Cisse and the former IAAF anti-doping chief Gabriel Dolle are also being investigated by French police.

Lamine Diack ruled IAAF for 16 years.
