Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Program holds today at Essex County College, Newark, New Jersey, USA
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Program, being put together by the Africana Institute of the Essex County College, New Jersey, United States of America (USA), will hold today, Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 10:00AM to 12:00 PM.
The program, part of the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Africana Institute, had earlier been slated for Tuesday, January 27, 2026, but was rescheduled to hold today, Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Mary Burch Theater, Main Campus of Essex College, 303 University Avenue, Newark, New Jersey.
Keynote Speaker for the Memorial event, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the late civil rights icon, is Raymond M. Brown, Esq., Partner at Pashman, Stein, Walder Hayden. Brown, Esq., is a renowned International Human Rights Attorney.
The program, which is coming as the world is celebrating the annual Black History Month this February, will also feature special performances by The Arts High School Choir and The Essex County College Music Department.
Scholars, activists, pan Africanists, and many other stakeholders are expected to be part of the event which will also be a testimony to, and celebration of, the highly impactful work that the Director of the Africana Institute, Dr. Akil Khalfani, has done over the years.
All are invited to be part of this program which promises to be memorable. There will also be opportunity for those who are not able to be physically present on the College Campus to participate via Zoom.
