The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has responded to reports about new demands allegedly made by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, saying the Malian coach is already well taken care of.
Recent reports claimed Chelle submitted a long list of requests during talks about his future with the national team. The alleged demands included a monthly salary of $130,000, a private sport utility vehicle with a personal driver, and round-the-clock security.
He was also reported to have asked for a house with 24-hour electricity, as well as a modern office fitted with a projector and fast internet for tactical work and analysis.
However, NFF Secretary General Dr Mohammed Sanusi rejected claims that the coach lacks basic support.
“Chelle has accommodation, a car and a driver,” Sanusi said, adding that the Federation has already met important welfare needs.
Sanusi did not speak on the other reported requests, including the proposed salary increase. Sources within the Federation say Chelle still has one year left on his contract, and the discussions are seen as early talks ahead of a possible renewal.
The issue is expected to be reviewed by the NFF technical committee before any decision is sent to the Federation’s board.
Meanwhile, attention is turning to the pitch, as Chelle prepares the Super Eagles for a four-nation invitational tournament in Jordan during the March FIFA international window.
Nigeria will face Iran on March 27 at the Amman International Stadium before ending the tournament against host nation Jordan on March 31.
For now, the focus is on preparations for the matches, even as contract talks continue behind the scenes.
