Abia State Government rejects Sowore’s ‘half-transformation’ claim on Otti

The Director General of the Abia State Strategic Communications Bureau, Onyebuchi Ememanka, has strongly responded to criticisms from activist, Omoyele Sowore, who described Governor Alex Otti’s achievements in Aba as a “half-transformation”.

Ememanka dismissed Sowore’s comments as a “cheap hatchet job”, questioning how the activist could judge the governor’s performance after spending less than 24 hours in the city. He argued that Sowore’s brief visit was too short to provide a fair assessment, especially in the light of visible improvements in roads, drainages, street lighting, security, and overall cleanliness in Aba.

He said, “How can Sowore spend less than 24 hours in Aba and know Aba better than those who live here? If he really wanted to see whether Governor Otti is loved and appreciated by the people, he should have openly declared that he believed Otti is not doing anything. Only then would he have truly experienced Umu Aba.”

Sowore had raised concerns over persistent challenges such as flooding, waste management, and incomplete projects. However, Ememanka countered, emphasising that Governor Otti is widely appreciated by Aba residents for his ongoing efforts to transform the city.
