APC publishes list of cleared senatorial candidates for 2027 elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the names of senatorial candidates who have successfully emerged from its completed primary elections across 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party said the list contains candidates whose nominations have been concluded and officially approved. It added that primaries are still ongoing in some senatorial districts, while others remain unresolved or have yet to be conducted.

In the South-East, former Senate President Orji Uzor Kalu secured the APC ticket for Abia North. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr emerged for Abia South, while Emeka Atuma picked the ticket for Abia Central.

In Anambra State, Nelson Onubuogu, Kene Chiedu Ngozi Benedicta and Chibuogu Oraelusi won the party’s tickets for Anambra North, Central and South respectively.

Enugu State produced Osita Ngwu, Kelvin Chukwu and Ikeje Asogwa for Enugu West, East and North, while Imo State’s candidates are Alex Mbata (Imo East), Governor Hope Uzodimma (Imo West) and Patrick Ndubueze (Imo North).

In the North-East, Governor Umaru Fintiri secured the ticket for Adamawa North, while Felix Tangwami emerged for Adamawa South. Bauchi State candidates include Yakubu Abdullahi for Bauchi South and Ibrahim Baba for Bauchi North.

Borno APC candidates are Kaka Shehu (Central), Ali Ndume (South) and Tahir Monguno (North). Governor Inuwa Yahaya will contest for Gombe North, while Mohammed Ahmed and Jerry Damara emerged for Gombe Central and South respectively.

In the North-West, Babangida Hussain, Ahmed Malam Madori and Sani Garba won the tickets for Jigawa North-West, North-East and South-West.

Kaduna State produced former Governor Ramalan Yero for Kaduna North, Shehu Sani for Kaduna Central and Sunday Katung for Kaduna South.

Other notable candidates include Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau (Kano North), former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau (Kano Central), Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto Central) and Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara West).

In the South-South, Senate President Godswill Akpabio secured the APC ticket for Akwa Ibom North-West. Aniekan Bassey emerged for Akwa Ibom North-East, while Ekong Sampson won the ticket for Akwa Ibom South.

Bayelsa APC candidates are Fidelis Agbiki (West), Friday Kombowei Benson (Central) and Israel Sunny-Goli (East). Cross River candidates include Jarigbe Jarigbe, Oden Ewa and Asuquo Ekpenyong for the North, Central and South districts respectively.

In Delta State, Senator Ede Dafinone retained the ticket for Delta Central. Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa emerged for Delta North, while Joel-Onowakpo Thomas secured the Delta South ticket.

Rivers State candidates are Felix Obuah (West), Allwell Onyesoh (East) and Barry Mwara (South-East).

In the South-West, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele emerged for Ekiti Central. Lagos APC picked Wasiu Eshinlokun, Idiat Adebule and Tokunbo Abiru for Lagos Central, West and East respectively.

Governor Dapo Abiodun secured the Ogun East ticket, while Jimoh Ojugbele and Shuaib Salisu emerged for Ogun West and Ogun Central.

Ondo State candidates are Gbenga Elegbeleye, Taiwo Fasoranti and Isaacs Kekemeke for the North, Central and South districts. Osun APC candidates include Francis Fadahunsi, Adekunle Adeogoke and Akintunde Oyebiyi.

In the North-Central zone, the party cleared Dave Padopads-Awunah, Gabriel Suswam and Francis Agbo for Benue North-West, North-East and South.

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello emerged for Kogi Central, while Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq secured the Kwara Central ticket. Governor Abdullahi Sule won the APC ticket for Nasarawa North.

Niger State candidates include Idris Kutigi, Sani Musa and Sani Bello, while Plateau APC nominated David Barji, former Governor Simon Lalong and Simon Mwadkwon for Plateau Central, South and North respectively.

In Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole emerged for Edo North, while Joseph Ikpea and Ogbeide-Ihama Omoregie secured the tickets for Edo Central and Edo South.

For the Federal Capital Territory, former Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda emerged as the party’s senatorial candidate.

The APC stated that senatorial districts not included in the current list are awaiting the completion of primaries or the resolution of outstanding issues. The party explained that delays were caused by internal disagreements, zoning arrangements, logistical concerns and postponements in some states.

Party officials said the list would be updated once the remaining primaries are concluded and ratified before candidates’ names are submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
