‘We shall ensure that Nigeria is OK,’ says Kwankwaso

Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has confirmed that he had a meeting with the Presidential candidate of the party, Mr. Peter Obi, on Friday, June 12, 2026 “on key partisan and national issues.”

Kwankwaso a former Minister of Defence and leader of the Kwankwasiya Movement also stressed, despite insinuations to the contrary, that the NDC remains united.

The party had been confronted with some challenges arising from the primaries organised to chose the its candidates for the forthcoming general elections.

Towards resolving the issues, Mr. Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, had met with the NDC’s national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and other stakeholders. He also met with Senator Kwankwaso.

In a post on his X platform on Saturday, June 13, 2026, Kwankwaso, also a former Governor of Kano State, said: “Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting my brother and partner, His Excellency Peter Obi, at my residence in Abuja.

“I warmly welcomed him back from his highly productive international trip, and we engaged in frank and productive discussions on key partisan and national issues.

“Our party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), remains united. As leaders, we must continue to demonstrate maturity by making the necessary sacrifices and tolerating our differences in pursuit of our shared goal.

“We are resolute in this mission, and together, we shall ensure that Nigeria is OK. – RMK.”
