Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have secured the surrender of two high-profile terrorist commanders, in a major counter-terrorism success that further weakens insurgent operations across the North-East.
The high-profile commanders surrendered to troops of Sector 2 in Geidam on July 4, 2026, before arriving in Maiduguri the following day, where they are currently in military custody undergoing detailed profiling, debriefing and intelligence exploitation.
According to the military, the two commanders held influential positions within the terrorist leadership hierarchy and possess extensive knowledge of the group’s operational activities, command structure and logistics network.
Preliminary interrogation has already yielded valuable intelligence on the terrorists’ operational methods, sustainment mechanisms and support structures. The military said the information would strengthen ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at locating, disrupting and dismantling remaining terrorist enclaves across the North-East theatre.
Operation HADIN KAI noted that the latest surrender further validates the effectiveness of its sustained land and air offensives, backed by enhanced intelligence operations, which have continued to degrade the combat capabilities of terrorist groups while denying them freedom of movement and weakening their command and control structures.
The military added that the relentless operational pressure has increasingly forced terrorist leaders and fighters to abandon the insurgency, with many finding continued resistance unsustainable.
It described the surrender as another indication of the growing disintegration of the terrorist organisation and the cumulative impact of ongoing military operations across the theatre.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its resolve to sustain the current operational momentum until all remaining terrorist elements are either neutralised or compelled to surrender.
The Joint Task Force also pledged to continue exploiting actionable intelligence, intensifying offensive operations and working closely with relevant stakeholders to eliminate terrorism and restore lasting peace, security and stability across the North-East.
