Vice President Kashim Shettima has asked friends, associates and well-wishers to refrain from placing congratulatory advertisements or organising public celebrations as he marks his 60th birthday on Sept. 2, 2026.
Shettima, who has opted for a low-key celebration, said the decision was informed by his conviction that public attention should remain focused on national development rather than personal celebrations.
The Vice President said, “To ensure absolute propriety, I respectfully appeal that there should be no public birthday celebrations, congratulatory gatherings or goodwill advertorials across print, broadcast and digital media platforms.”
Rather than organising elaborate events or placing paid advertisements, Shettima urged his well-wishers to channel their goodwill into prayers for Nigeria and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He specifically requested prayers for the success of the administration’s economic reforms and lasting solutions to the country’s security challenges.
Shettima also called for prayers for greater national unity, peace and prosperity for Nigerians.
The Vice President said the occasion should provide an opportunity for reflection, gratitude and renewed commitment to serving the country.
Shettima will clock 60 on Sept. 2, 2026.
