The State Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom, Dr Amadu Attai weekend, hosted the leadership and members of ONE for Change, a foremost socio-political organization in the state saying, the group represented the rallying point for the unification of the people of the state.
Dr Attai, while welcoming the group led by its national Coordinator, Hon. Samuel Efanga at the APC secretariat, along Atiku Abubakar Way, commended them for their vision and for coming out to partner with the party towards enthroning good governance in the state in 2019.
He said, APC was ready to work with ‘ONE for Change’ since its philosophy was already in line with that of the party, in taking over government from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) adding that, “APC will not discriminate against prospective members who are willing to join the party” but, enjoined them against being members he described as “Nomadic politicians” whose tendencies are bent on creating problems where there was none.
“I welcome you into the party. ONE for Change remains the rallying point for the unification of Akwa Ibom people. The party is prepared to partner with you as the main aim of a political party is to take over power in 2019.
“Let us join our hands together and work for the success of APC as the party with neither division nor discrimination,” he said.
Earlier, the national Coordinator of ONE for Change, Hon. Efanga congratulated the APC leadership for piloting the affairs of the party to reach an enviable height and, also thanked them for the good work it has done to make the APC a stronger party in the state.
He said, they came to register the body as one of the strongest support groups of APC in the state and also declared unalloyed support to the party.
Hon. Efanga, who was Commissioner for Science and Technology in the state however, expressed delight that, in concept and philosophy, ONE for Change represents the unity of Akwa Ibom people and, oneness of purpose to ensure that APC takes over the mantle of leadership in the state in the forthcoming elections.
He urged the party to have confidence in the group that, wherever they are, their partnership would continue to blossom particularly, with the interest of enthroning people oriented government for the good of all the citizenry and beyond.
“We are here as a family to register ONE for Change as the strongest support group of APC in the state. ONE for Change represents the unity of Akwa Ibom people and oneness of purpose that, will ensure APC takes over the Hill-Top mansion come 2019, which was why we coined the name and philosophy as ONE.
“I implore you to have the confidence that wherever we are, we are working for the interest of this party particularly, the leadership in 2019.”
He used the occasion to draw members’ attention to the blackmail being peddled in some quarters that, the party was in disarray noting that, the rumours were merely false alarm and deliberate confusion created by the mischief makers to create unfriendly atmosphere for others.
Hon. Efanga called on the members in the state to be steadfast in APC as the party leadership was intact and unshaken.
“We thank the Chairman and other members of the State Working Committee, SWC, for the warm reception and the work they have done to keep APC as a strong party in the state.
“I also want to urge you not to be distracted by those who want to derail the progress of the party. Today, the party is doing well as membership is cutting across the entire state, which is courtesy of the leadership of this party.
“We have heard of the number of Federal Government appointees from the State, may be because of the kind of work that is being done by this party and I know that more are coming.
“Therefore, nobody should mudsling APC because they have opened up the party and by the grace of God, the levels of defection from other parties is one way, of which more people are still coming,” Hon. Efanga declared.
Other members of ONE for Change that also made the ceremony unprecedented were, ex-lawmakers in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Dr Emmanuel Akpan-Obong, Hon. Abu Uduyork, Hon. Efefiong Antigha, immediate past Council Chairmen, Hon. Ekpe James, Hon. Ufot Udoinyang, Hon. Okon Osung and Mr Mathias Idiong.
