3 die mysteriously in Edo: Police arrest 2 for interrogation

From Osaro Peters, Benin
The Edo State Police Command through its Public Relations department has declared to newsmen the arrest of two suspects over the death of three occupants of an apartment on Agharase Adu street, off Sapele Road, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nkombe Moses confirmed this to newsmen Tuesday at the Edo state Area command in Benin City.
He confirmed that the two females who died in the apartment were students of Auchi Polytechnic and that the two suspects arrested were those who invited the two female students to the house.
It would be recalled that three persons were reported to have died as a result of inhaling fumes from the generator suspected to have been found in the apartment’s kitchen.
The deceased, two females and one male, whose dead bodies were alleged to have been found by two other occupants of the flat at about 3am on Sunday were also alleged to have been visitors of the deceased male.
It was gathered that brothers to the deceased male who returned home from a party on seeing the bodies, raised the alarm.
One of the deceased females was said to have been found lying dead at the lobby while the other was lying down on the bed with her shoes on.
Bodies of the deceased have since been taken to the morgue by policemen from Etete Police Division.
A visit to the compound Tuesday showed that other residents have deserted the house as a source who preferred anonymity said the police has arrested a man with a laptop.
“There is nobody left in the compound as you can see except a dog, but funny enough, since the incident, the dog which used to be very aggressive has become so docile. Everybody has left the compound. The police came to the house and arrested one person with a laptop”, the source said.
