Nigeria Immigration Service promotes 156 personnel in A-Ibom

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has promoted 156 personnel in Akwa Ibom Command to new ranks in the last two months, the State’s Comptroller, Mr Livingstone Amadi has said.

The promotion and subsequent decoration of the personnel which took place in Uyo last weekend, was in compliance with the directive of the service.

Mr Amadi, who spoke through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Ibishia Imoh Jaja said, out of the number, 67 promoted in January this year were junior officers while 89 others were promoted to the senior ranks.

The breakdown of the figures among the senior officers showed that, one person was moved to the Deputy Comptroller position, the highest among the beneficiaries in the Command so far.

Others are Assistant Comptroller of Immigration 5, Chief Superintendent 3, Superintendent 15, Deputy Superintendent 8, Assistant Superintendent 17, Chief Inspectors of Immigration 2, Assistant Chief Inspectors 8, Principal Inspectors of Immigration 10 and Senior Inspectors of Immigration 21.

The Command’s PRO, Mr Jaja who was elevated to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Immigration also got decorated among his colleagues.

Mr. Amadi, while decorating the newly promoted officers charged them to be more dedicated to duty to commensurate with their promotion.

He said, their promotion should serve as a reward from the Service/federal government and as a motivation for more work.

According to the Comptroller, ‘‘all Officers elevated by this promotion should stand out in the discharge of their duties’’, adding that, those promoted should count themselves favoured by God Almighty, as promotion comes only from Him.

Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers of the Command, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Mr Fetus Korie expressed appreciation to God and the federal government for the gesture accorded them and promised to live up to the expectation of the service in the discharge of their duties.
