Rotation of power promotes equity, fairness, justice – Lai Mohammed

The Minister for Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said that agitation of rotation of power by the people of southern Borno is not only constitutional but apt and timely and will ensure justice and inclusiveness and that democracy all over the world promotes justice and fairness.
Speaking at  the maiden Southern Borno  Leadership Summit organised by Southern Borno Movement for Rotation of Power held at Barwee Hotels on Saturday, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said “democracy all over the world is anchored on promotion of justice, social and political inclusiveness. Your call for power shift to southern Borno is in line with principles of fairness, equity and justice”.
The minister, who was represented by the Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari said the movement was on course and also in line with what was happening in Oyo, Osun. Gombe, Yobe among other states in the country.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state advice the people of southern Borno not to be confrontational in their demand for power shift.
The governor, represented by the Secretary of the State Government, Alhaji Jidda Shuwa, said that power shift will bring development to the state, as the zone has qualified and human resources to turn the fortunes of the state around.
Also speaking, the Senator representing Southern Borno at the National Assembly, Senator Ali Ndume called for unity among the people of  Southern Borno, as without unity the issue of rotation of power will not be actualized.
“The movement for the actualisation  of power shift to Southern Borno cannot be realised without unity. So I urge you all to be united first, as the movement cannot be achieve on a platter of Gold. We have to unite and fight for it but not in a confrontational way,” he added.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the Southern Borno Movement  for Rotation of Power (SBMROP), Engr. Ibrahim Usman said since the inception of democratic  rule in 1979 the people of northern and central Borno have been ruling the state, stressing that for justice, equity and fairness it is time for Southern Borno to be given the opportunity to produce the governor of the state.
In his goodwill message, one if the chieftains of the movement, Comrade Hamza Bukar called on the people of Southern Borno to reject all candidates of parties that refuse to pick their flag-bearers from the zone.
