The Ebonyi State Chapter off the All Progressives Congress, APC, says it is preparing for a massive church thanksgiving ceremony as a way to mark the return of President Muhammadu Buhari to the country.
The President who returned recently had been away on a medical leave in the United Kingdom for 49 days.
Briefing newsmen after an enlarged Stakeholders meeting of the party at the weekend, Acting Chairman of the Party, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze said the event would hold on Sunday, 26th March this year to afford members the privilege to collectively thank God jointly for the return of President Buhari to the country and the return of peace to the Party in the State.
“The President, the Federal Executive Council and the Chairman and National Executive members of our Party and all well-meaning Nigerians shall be invited as a committee to this effect has been set-up by the party.
He disclosed that the Party had during the said meeting received with joy the news that both the Zonal and National leadership of the Party has ratified his appointment as the State’s Acting Chairman of the Party.
“The Party, in dire need of unity, synergy and quest for true progress, hereby declares no Victor, no vanquished in the resolved leadership crisis that has bedeviled the Party for a very long time,” he stated, adding that a Reconciliation committee has also been set-up to reach out to all members of the Party .
On the forth-coming Local Government election in the State, Pastor Eze said the Party will soon make its stand known as it was still studying the law and the process that brought it about as well as the electoral guidelines.
He added that the Party was in the same vein, still questioning the credibility of the persons occupying some offices in the EBSIEC Committee beginning from the Chairman to the other Commissioners as he alleged that the Party authoritatively has it on record that the EBSIEC leadership are all members of the Divine Mandate Group-the people who according to him master-minded and allegedly rigged the 2015 General Elections in the State.
“Their appointments into the Commission is nothing but compensatory and we must tackle this menace before going into the elections. We also sympathize with Ebonyi Civil servants whose salaries are being deducted on monthly basis by the government under the guise of a pension scheme.
We call on Ebonyi civil servants to get prepared to rise to the challenges of this illegal deductions, non-promotions, non-payment of leave allowances among others. The Party will stand with you. We will fight this cause with you and we will ensure that justice is done”, he said.
