Former Borno state Governor, Alhaji Muhammed Goni, has told members of Boko Haram insurgency group to surrender their arms and come back home to rebuild the society
Alhaji Goni, who made the appeal during the commissioning of the zonal office of the North East Alliance for Buhari 2019 in Maiduguri said that the Federal Government has a plan and program in place to take care of them.
“I am asking our children out there to come back home and give peace a chance, as the federal government has a plan for you, so that you will be part of the rebuilding efforts in the state. You are our children whether you are Boko Haram or not, you should come back, so that we will rebuild our society, ” he said.
Speaking on why he recently defected from PDP to APC, Goni said Buhari has done well more especially in the areas of security, fight against corruption and the economy, adding that the people of the North East are living witnesses to the success of the counter insurgency war in the area.
” ï came to APC to support the re-election bid of President Buhari. I, therefore, urge you to vote for Buhari, so that he will do more,” the elder statesman stated.
In his remarks, Governor Kashim Shettima thanked Goni, who was his opponent during the 2011 elections, as PDP candidate, stressing that with Goni in APC this time around, there will be zero votes for PDP in Borno.
He urged the people of Borno to come out en mass and vote for Buhari and all APC candidates, stressing that Buhari deserved hundred percent votes in Borno.
Earlier, the Borno state APC chairman, Alhaji Ali D’alors said with the defection of Kaka Bolori who was the Director General of the campaign organisation of the PDP governorship candidate and also DG PDP presidential council in the state, Alhaji Goni, as well as other PDP big wigs, there will no longer be PDP in the state.
In his welcome address, the North East Coordinator, for North East Alliance for Buhari 2019, Hon. Kaka Bolori said with their defection, PDP was dead in Borno, as they were the founders of PDP in Borno.
” Ï assure you that this time around, we are going to have total zero vote for PDP in Borno. We urge you to go out, mobilize people and vote for APC,” he said.
