A Boko Haram leader, Abu Fatima, who was on the 230 wanted Boko Haram list published by the military has been killed in an encounter with the military in Ajigin village of Damboa local government area of Borno state.
The theater commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru in a live Press briefing held at the Military Command and Control Centre (MCCC), Maimalari Barracks Maiduguri said, “a Boko Haram terrorist Abu Fatimah was killed by our troops in an encounter in Ajigin village of Damboa”.
He said another Boko Haram terrorist leader, Abu Nasir, an Amir of Jawara village was also killed in a fierce gun duel with the troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole.
While updating the Operations of the Operation Lafiya Dole, General Attahiru said from March to date the troops have killed 404 Boko Haram terrorists in various clearance operations, arrested 810 insurgents, in addition to the rescue of 1,018 civilian from Boko Haram captivity.
The theater commander also stated that a Boko Haram leader, Mustapha Salihu alongside Alhassan Jibrin were among those arrested by the troops of the Nigerian Army within the period under review in Kala-balge area of Borno state.
He said during the period under review, 97 cases of Improvised Explosive Device incidents (IEDs) were recorded within the theater, adding that very soon the theater will introduce Operation mobile Brigade to effectively tackle the rising security challenges.
He therefore called on the people of North-east to always be security conscious and report any suspicious movement or objects to the nearest security outfit.
