The Federal Government has opened an online portal for applications into federal technical colleges across the country through the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), restating its commitment to free technical and vocational education.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo. She said the initiative followed the approval of the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.
According to Mr. Alausa, registration for the NCEE will begin on January 26 and end on May 24, while the examination will be held nationwide on June 6.
He explained that the exercise is part of the Federal Government’s broader plan to widen access to quality technical and vocational education and to equip young Nigerians with practical, employable and industry-relevant skills.
The minister advised interested candidates to complete their registration through the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) online portal at https://student.nabteb.gov.ng.
He also stressed that possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory and remains a key requirement for successful registration.
Mr Alausa further stated that education in federal technical colleges is fully funded once candidates are admitted, highlighting the government’s focus on human capital development, youth empowerment and improved national productivity.
He added that only candidates aged between 13 and 20 years are eligible to apply, urging parents, guardians and applicants to strictly follow all application guidelines.
The minister reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to expanding access to free and high-quality technical education, aimed at empowering youths with relevant skills, encouraging self-reliance and supporting Nigeria’s economic growth and sustainable development.
