The athletics event kick-off at the All Africa Games with Nigerian triple jumper, Tosin Oke, winning gold medal in the men’s event of his discipline, Monday in Brazzaville, Congo.
The 34-year-old took a leap of 17 metres that ensured he was way ahead of the field.
It was, however, a first and second finish in the men’s triple jump for Nigeria as Olumide Olamigoke claimed silver.
Olamigoke finished with a leap of 16.98 metres.
Oke has now succeeded in defending the gold medal he won in the men’s triple jump four years ago at the Games in Maputo, Mozambique.
