Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has disclosed that his administration in the last one year completed the construction of about 200 kilometers of roads and 15 bridges across the state.
Gov Emmanuel, during his 2016 Democracy Anniversary broadcast, listed the road networks to include, 6.6km internal roads in Oron with outfall drains, Information Drive at Atan Offot in Uyo and Onna-Etinan-Uyo Road among others.
“By the stride, communities that were once cut off in the state have been opened up. We have intervened in a number of places ravaged by gully erosion. Calabar-Itu Road and St Luke’s Hospital Anua are prime examples and we hope to do the same in many other communities of the state.
“Five days ago, I commissioned 6.6kilometer internal roads in Oron with outfall drains to the excitement of the people. In the last one year, we have sought to provide vision, motivation, direction and inspiration for a new Akwa Ibom State packaged as an oasis of industrialization and good governance.”
He expressed his determination to continue to live up to the people’s expectation by fulfilling his campaign promises despite the current economic realities on ground.
“Though our national economy is experiencing challenges, our dreams are in expansion. There may be famine in the land, but right in this land, because we are dreamers, we are planting seeds and like Isaac, we will reap a hundred fold,” he said.
