
The Hillside, New Jersey, United States of America (USA) Chapter of the African Diaspora for Good Governance Political Action Committee (ADGGPAC), has congratulated Councilwoman Andrea Hyatt for the electoral upset that saw her defeating the incumbent, two-term Mayor Dahlia Vertreese, in the contest for the position of Mayor of Hillside.
Councilwoman Hyatt, who defeated Mayor Vertreese by 64.71 per cent to 35.29 per cent of the votes cast in a runoff election in the Township of Hillside, is set to takeover the wheel of governance of the Township and is expected to perform well in office, especially as she has the full backing of the Hillside Democratic Committee.
At the a victory gathering held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Liberty Avenue after the historic victory, the Hillside Democratic Committee Chair, Anthony Salters thanked the team and supporters of Hyatt for their dedication and hard work which resulted in the win.
The African Diaspora for Good Governance Political Action Committee (ADGGPAC), led by Mr. Chijike Ndukwu, which actively partnered with the Hillside Democratic Committee throughout the election cycle to ensure the victory of Councilwoman Hyatt and the others on her slate, hailed members of the African community in Hillside for their strong support for the Hillside Democratic Committee’s vision.
Ndukwu, in a telephone conversation with GPNews, also pledged the continued support of the African community for the party and for Mayor-Elect Andrea Hyatt, stressing that they will, as one, work hard to advance good governance in the Township of Hillside, and ensure the success of Mayor-Elect Hyatt’s administration.
