As the All Progressives Congress, APC, prepares for its congresses and convention,     (APC/Kaduna north), has offered to purchase nomination forms for those interested in being elected as delegates.
Hunkuyi, who is aspiring to contest the Kaduna State Governorship seat on the ticket of the party, urged APC members to insist on electing credible delegates that would protect their interests during the congresses.

Speaking in Kafanchan on Thursday, when he met APC stakeholders in the south of the state, Hunkuyi urged the party members to resist any attempt to impose delegates through affirmation.

“We must ensure that Congresses are held in each of the 255 wards  and 23 Local Government Areas in the state.
“You must also ensure that any attempt by government officials to impose delegates at the ward, local government and state levels is vehemently resisted,” he said.
Hunkuyi urged the party members to vote out Gov Ahmed el-Rufai who he accused of “reducing party members to nothing”.
The senator advised the party faithful to resist any attempt to manipulate the congresses, urging them to insist on equal opportunity and internal democracy within the party.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the delegates, drawn from Kajuru, Zangon Kataf, Kaura, Sanga, Kagarko, Jaba, Kachia and Jema’a Local Governments, promised to support Hunkuyi’s bid for the APC ticket.
Mr Anthony Wakili, a party elder and Director General of el-Rufai’s campaign in 2015, accused the governor of betraying the trust of members that ensured his victory, and particularly criticised the sacking of 30,000 workers.
Among those sacked were teachers, local government staff and  traditional rulers..
Wakili accused el-Rufai of taking the southern senatorial district for granted, and vowed to punish him for “such arrogance”.
Also speaking, Alhaji Isah Shika, Chairman, Strategic Committee of the “Hunkuyi 2019 Campaign Organisation”, stressed the need for APC members to reject aspirants that had no respect for them.
Mrs. Maryam Alkali, one of the teachers sacked last year, regretted that more than 3,000 of the sacked teachers were women that were the bread winners of their families.
“Many women were dismissed and have been left battling to survive; we are already mobilising those affected to vote out Gov el-Rufa in 2019,” she said..
NAN reports that the APC congresses are expected to kick off on May 2, and end with the National Convention slated for May 14.
