In a proposed Advisory Council of the APC-AKIDA obtained in Kaduna, Thursday, suspended All Progressive Congress (APC) Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, the party’s governorship aspirant in 2015, Isah Hashiru and former Secretary, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, were all named as figures behind the emrgence of thegroup in the state.
The State Executive Committee of the “APC-AKIDA” also consisted of nine members from each of the three zones of the state.
Addressing a news conference in Kaduna, before the commencement of the Joint Meeting of both the Executive Committee and Advisory Council, the two key organs of the APCAKIDA, Tom Maiyashi, the leader of the group said there was no faction of the APC in the state.
However, he gave the objectives of the group to include among others, the “sustenance of popular support for our party; “Improve mobilization of members at all levels to protect their interest; “Correct perceived tendencies that deviate from party ideology and practice “And to undertake activities which will improve the success of our party in all election.”
He said the group exists because the party’s structure in the state does not function in a manner prescribed by the constitution of the APC.
“APC-AKIDA is not a faction of APC in our state. We are responsible and loyal party members who believe in a united and strong APC in our state and Nigeria.
“It is not an alternative party structure. We exist because our party structures do not exist or function in a manner prescribed by party constitution or the interests of our members; and one of.
It would be recalled that Kaduna State APC had placed 11 months suspension on Senator Shehu Sani over what the party described as his disloyalty, misconduct and anti party activities.
