Members of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, have joined the ongoing nationwide strike called by the association.
The Chairman of the association, Mr. Kenneth Nwaji, told newsmen in Umudike that they proceeded on the strike after a Congress on Monday.
According to him, all laboratories, workshops, studios and research centres in the university have been shut down, while farm and field activities have been suspended.
Nwaji said the decision was in line with the directive of the national leadership of the union that all members should proceed on a two-week warning strike.
The chairman said that the body had constituted a monitoring team to ensure compliance and enforcement of the strike.
NAAT had directed all its branches to commence a two-week warning strike with effect from Monday over alleged failure of the Federal Government to implement a 2009 agreement.
