Bishop Kukah to deliver keynote address at surveyors’ confab

The 50th edition of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Annual General meeting, AGM/conference which is designed to have surveyors brainstorm on the challenges facing the profession and the way forward is to hold in Sokoto state capital from 27th -31st July 2015.
In a statement by the President of the institution, Surveyor Bern. Omo Akhigbe, said that ‎the event has as its theme, “Surveying Our Profession beyond Boundaries”, will have feature paper presentations by Fellows and Members at technical and business sessions.
He said among dignitaries expected at the annual event, are the State governor, Rt Hon Aminu Tambuwal, ‎ who will declare the AGM/conference open and the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, His Lordship, Matthew Hassan Kukah who will deliver a keynote address.
The statement added that Surv. S J Ojeikere will deliver a paper at the plenary on “The development of Surveying Profession in Nigeria.
He said ‎”The high point of this year’s AGM/conference is the revised Constitution of the Institution which we hope delegates will ratify and we are confident that they will also be enriched as usual by the quality of papers to be delivered by our members”.
Meanwhile Surveyor Akhigbe has urged delegates to this year’s AGM/conference to seize the opportunity of their early arrival at the Giginya Hotel, Sokoto, the venue of the conference, to be familiar with locations of all the scheduled sessions of the event.
The NIS was founded in 1934 by the foremost Nationalist Mr Herbert Macaulay as Licensed Surveyors Association‎ but formally adopted the present identity in 1965 at the AGM/Conference held at , Enugu, which served as the former regional capital of Eastern Nigeria.
It is the first AGM to be held in any City of the North West Nigeria.
