Boko Haram spokesman rearrested at Senate Leader’s residence in Maiduguri

The self acclaimed spokesman of the Boko Haram terrorist group, Ali Sanda Umar Konduga popularly known as Al-Zawahiri who was sentenced to three years imprisonment without option of fine was re-arrested at the Maiduguri residence of the Senate Leader, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume.
Konduga who was re-arrested on Wednesday by some good Samaritans and Policemen attached to Government Reserved Area (GRA) Police Station after his release last week, said he was at Ndume`s house to apologize for implicating him in Boko Haram activities.
Sources told our Correspondent that Konduga was identified, beaten up and rearrested on after he sneaked into the Senator’s House for three consecutive times beginning from Sunday 11th September 2016.
A source from Senator Ndume`s residence said “he kept on coming to the Senator’s house purposely to apologize to the immediate family for indicting Ndume and being charged for providing him with politicians’ telephone numbers and not disclosing information to
authorities under Nigeria’s Terrorism Prevention Act”.
It would be recalled that Konduga was arraigned before an Abuja High Court along with Senator Ali Ndume (Borno South), who he (Konduga) accused of sponsoring him to undertake Boko Haram activities. Ndume had pleaded not guilty to charges of passing classified information to an unauthorized person and of criminal intimidation.
Konduga was said to have sneaked into Ndume’s house a day to Sallah at about 8pm last Sunday and insisted that he wanted to see and apologize to the Senator who was in Saudi Arabia for the 2016 Hajj exercise and was not yet back.
“He was re-arrested when he revisited the house again on Wednesday at about 4pm, when he was identified by some close associates of Ndume,” the source added.
“Policemen in charge of G.R.A police station were alerted and swung into action re-arresting Konduga. He is now in police custody, while Senator Ndume has been informed,”.reliable sources said.
Investigations further revealed that Konduga has been taken to Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Maiduguri at about 10am on Friday, to ascertain the state of his mental health, after which, if prove mentally okay, he will be handed over to appropriate authorities by the police.
When our Correspondent visited the said Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, the Prosecutor who accompanied Konduga (names withheld) declined comments, even as he referred our reporter to meet his Divisional Police Officer (DPO).
Senator Ndume in a telephone interview with our Correspondent confirmed the re-arrest of Konduga in his residence in Maiduguri by the Police, insisting that he did not have further details, as he is presently out of the country for the 2016 Hajj.
