Breaking: Gunmen kidnap 2 Catholic Priests, 2 others in Bishop Kukah’s church

Yet to be apprehended terrorists, also identified as gunmen, Wednesday midnight May 25, 2022 broke into the Rectory of St Patrick Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State and kidnapped two of Reverend Fathers as well as two other boys from the house.

The terrorists are yet to make any demand or communicate to the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto at the time of filing this report.

Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah is in charge of the Diocese that oversees the Church in Katsina.

A statement by Father Chris Omotosho, the Sokoto Catholic Diocesan Director of Social Communications, however, urged the public to pray for the safety and return of the abductees.

Father Chris’ statement reads: “As at midnight of today, 25th May, 2022, gunmen broke into the rectory of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, Kafur LGA of Katsina State.

“The parish priest and his assistant Rev. Frs. Stephen Ojapa, MSP, and Oliver Okpara and 2 other boys in the house were kidnapped.

“No information as to their whereabouts. Kindly pray for their safety and release.”

It will be recalled that only few months ago, some Priests of the Catholic Church in same Katsina State were also kidnapped.
