
Ahead of the planned formal inauguration of the minister-designates on Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari, Tuesday, announced the sack of 20 Permanent Secretaries from the Civil Service of the Federation.
The affected Permanent Secretaries include those of Power, Petroleum, Finance, Defence, Housing, Transport and Urban Development and Special Duties.
The development follows the recent appointment of a new Head of Service, Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita who was believed to a junior officer in the civil service raking.
Buhari reportedly informed the affected officers of government’s decision, during a closed-door meeting early Tuesday inside the Presidential Villa. The permanent secretaries were led to the meeting by Oyo-Ita.
The meeting also had in attendance, the Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari.
