CAFCC; Etoile Filante skipper plans Rivers United FC defeat in Nigeria

Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso skipper, Abdoulaye Zongo, has revealed their plan to defeat Rivers United FC of Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) second leg tie on October 1.

Etoile Filante were held to a 0-0 draw by visiting Rivers United FC in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup second round clash in Yamassoukro on Sunday, September 17.

Speaking ahead of their second leg clash in Nigeria, Zongo declared that they will do their best to get a positive result against Rivers United.

“We are confident in our ability as we have weighed the performance of Rivers United in the first leg,” Zongo told the club’s media.

“The players know what is at stake and we are ready to achieve victory in the tie against Rivers United in Nigeria,” the Etoile Filante skipper remarked.

Rivers United FC will host the Burkinabe outfit on October 1, 2023 at the Adokiye Amasiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

A win will take either side through to the group stage while Filante will advance with a score draw. If it ends goalless, Penalty shoot-out will be required to determine a winner.

Rivers United made it to the quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup last season.
