The Super Eagles will play two friendly games when they hit South Africa for the final leg of preparations ahead of the 2016 Africa Nations Championship which starts next month in Rwanda.

Media officer of the team Toyin Ibitoye confirmed that the two friendly matches are be against Ivory Coast and Angola.

“Yes, two friendly matches have been lined up for the team to help us prepare for the championship in Rwanda,” Ibitoye said.

“The first game will be on the 9th and then another will be on the 11th of January. We are on break now and we resume on the 26th before leaving for South Africa on January 2, 2016,” he added.

The Super Eagles will square up to the Elephants of Ivory Coast in the first of two friendlies on January 9th. The Ivorians are making a return to the tournament after missing out on the 2013 edition.

They were ironically stopped from participating at the last tournament in South Africa by Nigeria who eliminated the Elephants during the qualifiers.[below]

The Ivorian squad draws its players mostly from Africa Sports, Sewe Sports and Asec Mimosas and they play the first game of the competition against hosts Rwanda on January 16th.

Angola will be next for the Super Eagles two days after the Ivorian test before the team heads to Rwanda for the competition.

The Palancas Negras aka Sable Antelopes will have players like Ary Papel from Primero de Agosto, goalkeeper Landu from Recreativo de Libolo and Job who plays for Petro de Luanda all from the Girabola.

Nigeria are in Group C of the 2016 CHAN alongside Tunisia, Guinea and Niger.
