Commissioner visits Police station burnt over alleged killing of two youths of same parents; Assures justice’ll be done


CP Mohammed, who was accompanied by other senior Police Officers, assured that the Command would do everything possible to ensure that justice is done in the matter and called on members of the public to remain calm.
In a statement on his behalf by SP Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, Police Public Relations Officer for the State, CP Mohammed decried the rate at which Police stations were being attacked at the slightest provocation and urged community leaders and other stakeholders to sensitize the youths of the area against such unfortunate incidents in future.
The youths took to the streets when the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, who is being accused of highhandedness, allegedly led a team that shot the two youths to death.
The DPO and other personnel of the station reportedly fled in the face of the fury of the rampaging youths who went ahead to set the station ablaze while parading the corpse of one of the youths that were allegedly shot.
CP Mohammed also assured, during his visit, that the Command would do everything to ensure that policing activities continue in the area, so as not to allow hoodlums a field day.
Responding, the head of the traditional rulers in the Local government, HRH Eze Uwalaka, thanked the CP for the visit and promised to set machinery in place to ensure that such never reoccurs in the area.
In the CP’s entourage were the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Illyasu Kwarbai, Deputy Commissioner of Police (CID), DCP Musa Baba, Commander 18 PMF Squadron, ACP Ishyaku Usman, among others.
