
History will be made in the Township of Hillside, County of Union, New Jersey, United States, Thursday, January, 15, 2026, as the recently elected Mayor of the Township, Councilwoman Andrea Hyatt, is sworn into office.
Hyatt defeated the incumbent, Mayor Dahlia Vertreese, and is set to bring on board, sweeping reforms aimed at positively impacting the people who reside in Hillside.
The inauguration and reorganization meeting is scheduled to take place from 6.30 pm at the Hillside High School Auditorium, 1085 Liberty Avenue, NJ 07025, and would also involve Council – at- Large, Lisa Bonanno, Council -at- Large, Armando Dasilva, Council – at- Large, Calvin Lofton, and 2nd Ward Council, Dr. Angela Garretson.
Hyatt, a graduate of Rutgers University, who was Councilwoman of the First Ward in Hillside, has made her mark as an advocate of good government, and as the voice of the people.
Married to Anthony Hyatt, and mother of two daughters and a son, Andrea Hyatt has also endeared herself to the people of the Township of Hillside by her community building and social welfare program, using the vehicle of her non-profit, the Andrea Hyatt’s Sharing the Love Civic Association, Inc.
The inauguration of this acclaimed servant leader as Mayor of the Township of Hillside is sure to mark the new beginning of a more glorious era of good governance in the Township, and dignitaries from far and near, are expected to grace the program.
